Before you start to write:
What is the objective of the content?
What’s it for?
Who is the audience or customer?
What is your USP (unique selling point) or what single benefit do you need to get across?
Are you identifying your audiences’ needs and requirements?
Reviewing your content:
Does the piece reflect the brief?
Does the headline grab the reader’s attention and invite them to read on?
Is this piece of content relevant to your target audience/persona?
Does this piece address at least one of the target audiences’ problems?
Have you used short sentences and paragraphs and broken up paragraphs with subheadings?
Is any offer clear and concise?
Is there a sense of urgency for any offer?
Have you clearly stated the unique selling point?
Have you avoiding using a lot of industry jargon?
Is the content conversational? Are you addressing the reader as “you”?
Is the piece free of typos and grammatical errors?
Is the writing fairly casual and avoids cliches?
Have you read through the copy and deleted unnecessary sentences/thoughts?
Have you printed it out and read through the copy to check flow and readability?
Has someone else read through the copy to check flow and readability?
Is there a clear call to action?
